The Facts:
When asked about James today, GM Rod Graves repeated his view on such matters: Any decision made would be in the best interests of the club. That includes the timing of such decisions.

According to Republic beat writer Kent Somers, that means the Cardinals aren't about to release James any time soon. James and rookie Tim Hightower are the only running backs under contract. J.J. Arrington is due to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the month. Somers further noted the Cardinals don't need the $5 million in additional cap space that would result from releasing James, so it appears they will wait until the position has been solidified. That could come in free agency, which opens Feb. 27, or in the draft, on April 25-26.
