The Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator for the past five seasons, Gunther Cunningham on Wednesday was hired to fill the same role with the Lions. He also will have the title of assistant head coach. Reported by The Sports Ticker

The veteran coach will be reunited with new Lions HC Jim Schwartz, who was hired last week. The pair spent three years together in Tennessee, where Cunningham was linebackers coach and Schwartz was defensive coordinator.
