The Facts:
Burress spoke with the media for the first time since reporting to training camp last Thursday. In his remarks, he made it clear he's not practicing because of his ankle, not his contract. "It's something I did a couple of weeks ago," Burress said of his ankle injury. "I went down and saw the doctor (Robert Anderson) in Carolina. My No. 1 thing is to be healthy. That's the bottom line. It doesn't have anything to do with a contract or anything like that. If that was the case, then I wouldn't be here."

The fact that Burress had to visit a well-known foot specialist is worrisome enough. Especially since Burress further noted he hurt himself working out a few weeks ago. "The injury I had last year is healed," Burress explained. "I want to prevent it from (causing me to) eventually go through what I went through last year. ..." Fair enough. In the meantime, HC Tom Coughlin believes Burress will return to work soon. We'll be watching.
