According to SI.com's Peter King, the Packers have told Brett Favre, in so many words, that there will be no competition for the starting job. Favre's words: "(GM) Ted [Thompson] told me, 'Aaron's our starter.' I asked if I could compete for the job. He said, 'That is not an option. ...'"

King went on to suggest that no matter how well Favre would perform in training camp, and no matter how many boos rained down on Thompson and Rodgers, it wouldn't matter. Per King: "The Packers are going to go with Rodgers, and go down in flames with him if need be."
