A source close to Favre
confirmed reports that Favre planned to report to the Packers' training camp Sunday but that GM Ted Thompson asked whether he'd wait a couple days to see whether he could make a trade to resolve the impasse. Favre also said he's signed his letter of request for reinstatement but has not faxed it to the NFL offices. "He'll probably go in Tuesday or Wednesday," the source close to Favre said.

Among the certainties here, King believes that the Packers won't release Favre, for fear that he'll land with the Vikings. So if the Packers can't find a suitable trading partner, it's unclear how the impasse can be broken. The Packers want to prevent Favre from reporting to their camp because it could be divisive for the locker room and a major distraction for the team with the resulting media scrutiny. ... Stay tuned.
