The Facts:
While his teammates arrived for the start of training camp today, Manning remained at his Indianapolis-area residence. In a conference call with the media, he said team doctors are keeping his knee compressed, immobilized and elevated. He has an IV-line in his left arm so antibiotics can be administered and a tube in his left knee so excess fluid can be drained. The main concern, Manning said, is to ensure the infection doesn't return. "We feel at this point that the infection has resolved itself, but to be up there around 150 guys is probably not the smartest thing at this point," he said.

In case you missed it, Manning is still is on the mend after undergoing surgery July 14
to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee. He couldn't predict when he might report to camp or begin practicing. The team said after the surgery that it expected his recovery time to range from four to six weeks. Manning said he could be at camp "as soon as (Friday), it could be sometime next week. They really haven't given me any time frame. ..." We still have no reason to believe Manning won't be under center when the Colts open the regular season Sept. 7 against the Chicago Bears in the team's brand new stadium.
