If Favre wants to unretire from football and play for Carolina, that's news to Panthers GM Marty Hurney. "I don't know where these things come from," Hurney said of an Internet report earlier this week about agent Bus Cook saying Favre has decided he already wants to return to the game, specifically with Carolina.

The Panthers' starting QB job is set with Jake Delhomme, although he is coming off elbow surgery. Undrafted Matt Moore and Brett Basanez will likely be Delhomme's backups. If the Panthers are indeed uninterested they aren't alone. The Packers don't seem especially interested either. ... For what it's worth, the Los Angeles Times, without citing any sources, reported Friday that Favre could resurface with Tampa Bay, Carolina, Chicago or Minnesota. ... Stay tuned.
