Asked if Portis will still be able to pull himself out of games as he did with Joe Gibbs, new HC Jim Zorn quickly shot down any possibility of that. "I don't think that's something that's going to happen here," Zorn said. "That's not the way our offense is designed. I don't think that will be the way that we function on the football field."

Funny, previous OC Al Saunders held a similar view of Portis' willingness to ask out whenever he felt the need to take a blow, but Gibbs still allowed Portis to make the call. Much like Saunders, Zorn understands the importance of the playcaller having the desired personnel on the field. We suspect it will mean more Portis -- and that's a good thing.
