Michael Turner Recovering From Shoulder Surgery
(4/14 4:48 PT)

The Facts:
Turner's first day as a Falcon passed quietly. He was withheld from drills in the team's first mini-camp while still recovering from a shoulder procedure due to a minor injury in December. Reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
While this is the first we've heard about the procedure, it's safe to assume the Falcons were well aware of it before investing more than $34 million last month to secure his services over the next six years. ... Atlanta signed Turner specifically because they believe he's well-suited to handling the power rushing game that will be featured under new HC Mike Smith. As the AJC noted today, OC Mike Mularkey's system, when he developed it in Pittsburgh (2001-02), was termed "Exotic Smashmouth," with halfback options passes and tight end reverses used to spice up Jerome Bettis' domination between the tackles. In Atlanta, Turner will asked to handle the Bettis role.
