Report: Kellen Winslow Talks At Standstill
(2/25 9:15 PT)

The Facts:
Since the Pro Bowl, the Browns and the agent for Winslow have attempted to quietly work out a contract extension. But sources say the discussions are stalled. Multiple sources told the Dispatch yesterday that Winslow would be disappointed if the Browns do not renegotiate his contract. One NFL source said the Browns' inactivity has made Winslow feel unappreciated and undervalued after playing hurt and at a high level the past two seasons. Another source indicated a major holdup in negotiations is a disagreement about the four-year veteran's shoulder injury. Reported by the Columbus Dispatch

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
According to Dispatch staffer Jim Walker, the Browns want Winslow to have surgery for a mild separation he suffered early last season. Winslow and his doctors believe the shoulder is fine. ... Although the amount of money involved hasn't been revealed, sources told Walker that agent Drew Rosenhaus wants to make Winslow the highest-paid TE in the NFL. That seems unlikely to happen. Dallas Clark, who signed a six-year, $36 million deal last week, is now the league's highest-paid TE. Winslow is signed through 2010 and due approximately $13 million the next three seasons.
