Contract Talks With Dez Bryant Have Begun
(5/31 10:40 PT)

The Facts:
Dallas Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones acknowledged Friday that contract talks with Dez Bryant have begun. When asked if a contract extension with the standout wide receiver could be reached before or during the upcoming season, Jones said it’s “a real possibility.” He added: “We’re certainly taking a long look at that. As we do with any great player in our organization who’s nearing the end of a contract, we start to look at it and see how we might structure something going forward. I think that’s a possibility, yes.” Reported by the Dallas Morning News

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Bryant, 25, is coming off his first Pro Bowl season, catching 93 passes for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns. Over the last three seasons, no wide receiver has caught more touchdown passes than Bryant’s 34. His expectation are to be paid in a range more on line with his production. “As far as from the receiver standpoint, of course I feel like I’m one of the better receivers in this league,” Bryant said Wednesday. “When it comes to that contract, I’m going to sit back and wait and see what happens.” Sounds like Bryant can expect that to happen sooner rather than later.
