Redskins Add Kirk Cousins To QB Depth Chart
(4/28 11:49 PT)

The Facts:
The Redskins picked Cousins with the 102nd pick in the 2012 draft, exactly 100 selections after Washington picked Robert Griffin III. The move comes 18 years after the Redskins selected Heath Shuler with the third overall pick, and Gus Frerotte at 197. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As PFT's Mike Florio pointed out, if history repeats itself in Washington, maybe Cousins will be the starter. After all, Frerotte ended up supplanting an ineffective Shuler. Yes, it’s highly unlikely that it will happen with Cousins and Griffin. As unlikely, Florio reminded us, as it would have seemed in 1994, when Shuler was the can’t-miss prospect and Frerotte was the afterthought. ... Two thoughts: Griffin isn't Shuler. And how disappointed must Cousins be to go to a team where he really won't get a realistic shot at unseating the starter unless the worst -- injury -- happens. ... One last note: The decision to add Cousins is bad news for John Beck, who’ll almost certainly be cut. It also makes the ground under Rex Grossman’s feet a bit shakier.
