The Facts:
Following up on the
ongoing story. ... It's easy for a team to claim, publicly and/or privately, that it's not interested in Manning before Manning actually is available. But as the divorce is becoming more and more inevitable, folks apparently are reconsidering those knee-jerk reactions of non-interest. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that, at the Scouting Combine, teams that "once said they wouldn't pursue Manning [are] now pondering that possibility." Schefter adds that "[i]nterest in 18 is high."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Taking a quick look through the list of conferences and divisions, PFT's Mike Florio believes the following teams should be very interested: Bills, Dolphins, Jets, Browns, Jaguars, Titans, Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders, Redskins, Vikings, 49ers, Cardinals and Seahawks. Florio went on to suggest that even teams like the Bengals, Ravens, Texans, Eagles, Bears, and Buccaneers should consider the possibility of pursuing Peyton. Much will depend, of course, on Manning's ability to throw the ball. And while ESPN's Chris Mortensen has reported that Manning has made great progress in that regard, SI.com's Peter King reported this morning there's still much skepticism that Manning can throw well enough before the start of free agency -- when at least one team might cross Manning off its list and sign a Matt Flynn, let's say. King added: "There's no way I'd sign Manning unless I saw him throw the ball at 80 or 90 percent of the way he used to. ..." That makes sense to us. ... And for what it's worth, King's best guesses for Manning, if he can throw well and is released, in order: 1. Miami, 2. New York Jets, 3. Washington, 4. Seattle, 5. Arizona. ... Stay tuned.
