The Facts:
Grant will become an unrestricted free agent in two weeks unless the Packers sign him to a new contract. "Hope he's back," said HC Mike McCarthy. "We'll see what happens with his situation."

McCarthy added: "Ryan's one of our leaders. This is a team that didn't have a whole lot of leadership when I first got here (2006). Now we've got the leaders down there (locker room). You've got to put some value in that. ..." The question is whether that value is as high as Grant believes it is. Letting Grant go, however, wouldn't be a substantial loss given that Green Bay has a young stable of capable backs with James Starks, Brandon Saine and Alex Green, a promising third-round draft pick last year who will be coming back from a severe knee injury. That means the 29-year old Grant will at least get a chance to see what others might be willing to pay. ... Stay tuned.
