The Facts:
Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said that he is interested in retaining Orton and that the feeling is mutual from Orton.

“We’ve talked to Kyle’s people," said Pioli. "It sounds like Kyle would like to be with us. We’ve told Kyle we’d like to continue to work with him. Now it’s just a matter of seeing if things arrive at the right place. It’s not always whether we want a player or the player wants to be here. Things have to work out (contractually).” Orton played reasonably well in place of Matt Cassel who missed seven weeks with a broken hand. The Chiefs would like to push Cassel's development this offseason and some competition in camp is a good way to do that.
