ongoing story. ...During an Indianapolis speaking engagement Thursday evening, Colts owner Jim Irsay scoffed at speculation that he and Manning are feuding. Irsay repeated his claim that he wants to see Manning remain in an Indy uniform. "We've talked more in recent weeks than we have in most Februarys," Irsay said.

As for the $28 million roster bonus Manning is due on March 8, Irsay said: "We both know everyone has great interest on it. We'll just keep talking. And by that [March 8] date, we'll come up with something that makes sense for him and for the Colts. I think we both understand each other's issues." The owner went on explain the recent back-and-forth between him and Manning as a symptom of their competitive relationship. "But I have a lot of close friends and they've said a lot worse things to me and I've said a lot worse things to them than him and I have," Irsay said before adding his history with Manning will help in negotiating a fair agreement with the four-time league MVP: "Him and I will always continue to be great friends, and I hope it's with him still being in a Colts uniform.
