According to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune citing two unnamed sources, Cutler is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with his broken thumb.

That thumb will require surgery and whether or not that length of time would be season ending depends on the Bears making the playoffs. Because of that possibility, the Bears do not intend to place Cutler on injured reserve. Caleb Hanie is currently next on the depth chart.
