Let us review the week that was in the “As the Carson Turns” saga. ... Monday: Peter King reports he heard that the Bengals would be open to listening to trade offers for Palmer. Tuesday: WCPO’s Dennis Janson said that Palmer has told “confidants” that he would
never set foot again inside Paul Brown Stadium. Which brings us to today. When asked if Palmer was indeed on the market, a team official said that the organization’s stance toward the ninth-year QB has not changed — he will be playing [in Cincinnati] or retire.

In case you missed it, owner Mike Brown said the following about Palmer in January: “He is key to our plans,
he’s central to us. He was told that and that we count on him going forward. He was told that we are not in a position to trade him. ...” This after Palmer first made it clear he planned to retire if the Bengals refused his request to be traded. ... Meanwhile, as Enquirer staffer Joe Reedy notes, any talk about Palmer’s possible market value or where he could be traded remain a moot point until a new collective bargaining agreement is reached. Reedy added that once the new CBA is in place, all the possible scenarios involving Palmer would quickly move from hypothetical to reality. Stay tuned. Palmer is talking tough enough to make this one interesting.
