Following up on the ongoing negotiations between the NFL and NFLPA, ESPN's Chris Mortensen advised his Twitter followers a short time ago, "Anything less than owners agreeing to extend talks would be a shock." Mortensen went on to suggest the two sides would then take the weekend off before resuming Monday.

Multiple observers continue to believe a 7-10 day extension is the likely outcome today. According to Profootballtalk.com, the owners and players met starting around 9:30 a.m. ET, with NFLPA chief DeMaurice Smith and other NFLPA player reps stepping out of the building just before 1 p.m. ET. “We want to thank our fans for continuing to be patient,” Smith said to reporters waiting nearby. ... A final answer on a possible extension is expected to come Friday at 5-6 p.m. ET, roughly the same time we learned about the 24-hour extension of talks on Thursday. ... Stay tuned.
