Finneran, who turned 35 in January, has been with the Falcons since 2000. He played in all 17 games last season and made one start. Over 11 seasons, he caught 236 passes for 3,072 yards and 19 touchdowns. He battled back from a severe knee injury that forced him to miss the 2006 and 2007 seasons. He has been credited with helping with the development of All Pro WR Roddy White. In an exclusive interview with the AJC, HC Mike Smith talked about the team creating more explosive plays on offense next season. He also said that he expects WRs Harry Douglas, Kerry Meier and Eric Weems to have increased roles in the offense.
