The Facts:
Michael Lombardi of NFL.com believes that the Panthers will finally trade Smith this offseason once a new CBA is reached.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
With a dearth of talent across the board, the Panthers don't have enough picks to satisfy all their holes. They must attempt to use some of their assets -- mainly Smith -- to acquire more picks and help their rebuilding process. Lombardi suggests Smith to the Patriots for a second-round pick as a good fit for both sides. The contending Pats need an outside/downfield threat at receiver while Carolina's new coaching staff must rebuild. ... Worth noting: New England holds Carolina's 2011 second-rounder after the Panthers' ill-advised trade for Armanti Edwards last year. As the Redzone.org suggests, it's a deal that makes sense, at least on paper.
