As game-time approaches there remains a feeling that Favre's NFL-record streak of consecutive starts will end at 297 tonight against the Giants because of a sprained throwing shoulder.

According to Star-Tribune staffer Judd Zulgad, Favre appears to be all right with the fact that this might be it for him in terms of consecutive starts. There is no indication if he would be shut down for the remaining three games after this or if he just needs a week to rest. Favre has told people in recent days, including a USA Today writer, that he didn't think he would be able to play tonight. ESPN's Ed Werder reported this afternoon that Favre also believes streak likely will end. If Favre doesn't start, Tarvaris Jackson will be under center to open a game for the first time since the 2008 season. Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said in a text message this morning that "there's a chance [Favre will play] because he's Brett, but he still has pain. We will see. ..." Stay tuned.
