According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Smith is keeping his starting job for at least another week.

Schefter went on to suggest that Smith is now now on a week-by-week basis. David Carr is the current No. 2 and Troy Smith is No. 3. Mike Singeltary nearly yanked Smith Sunday night's loss to the the Eagles but Smith talked the coach out of the benching. ... We'll go ahead and suggest that as long as Smith plays as he did after talking his way back into the game (he led to the team to touchdowns on consecutive drives), he'll be fine.
