Thomas, a former second-round draft pick, was waived by Washington on Saturday. He joins a Panthers receiving corps that includes an injured Steve Smith (high ankle sprain), rookies David Gettis, Brandon LaFell and Armanti Edwards as well as another waiver claim, former Jet David Clowney. In other words, the Panthers need all the help they can get.
