Reports: Pats To Get Third-Round Pick For Randy Moss
(10/6 5:22 PT)

The Facts:
Following up on the ongoing story. ... The Moss trade hasn't been announced but the pieces all seem to be in place. The deal will cost the Vikings a third-round pick in 2011, according to multiple reports, but the WR won't receive an immediate contract extension to change teams. NFL sources confirmed that nothing is yet official but look for an announcement later today. Reported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
There had been conflicting reports on Tuesday night when the story first broke about whether Moss would get an extension but Michael Lombardi of NFL Network confirmed early this morning that the veteran will arrive in Minnesota as essentially a rental player. Moss is in the final season of a three-year, $27 million deal that he signed with the Patriots. Moss hasn't been happy with that contract but evidently he feels playing with Brett Favre in Minnesota will be enough to show teams that he deserves a rich new deal. Moss returns to the Vikings, who drafted him in the first round in 1998. All signs point to Moss playing his first game in his return to the Vikings on Monday night against the Jets at the New Meadowlands.
