Following up on the previous item. ... After releasing Dwayne Jarrett, the Panthers claimed Clowney off waivers from the New York Jets to replace him.

"I talked to Dwayne and told him the situation here," general manager Marty Hurney said in a statement released by the team. "It is just not working out for either side. We had a chance to pick up off waivers a receiver (Clowney) we were considering claiming when he became available four weeks ago. We wish Dwayne the best. ..." Clowney joins the Panthers after four seasons with the Jets, where he had 16 catches for 239 yards for one touchdown.
