The Facts:
Williams has wasted no time distinguishing himself in the race to become a starting receiver. HC Raheem Morris said Williams is currently the starting "X" receiver and will likely remain there when the preseason schedule begins.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Tribune staffer Anwar S. Richardson explained, the "X" receiver lines up on the opposite side of a tight end and stands at the line of scrimmage. He usually draws one-on-one coverage and is expected to make big plays, like New England's Randy Moss, San Diego's Vincent Jackson and Miami's Brandon Marshall. ... "Mike Williams had a dynamic offseason," Morris said. "He's come in and done everything we've asked. He's been one of the guys who caught the ball and stood out. He's been standing out since he's been here. ..." Although Williams was a fourth-round draft pick by Tampa Bay, many draft experts believed he had first-round talent. So far, he's making them look smart.
