Lynch has lost an appeal with the NFL to have his three-game suspension reduced. "Commissioner Roger Goodell has notified Marshawn Lynch that he has review his appeal of a three game suspension for violating the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy and that it should not be modified."

That means Fred Jackson and Dominic Rhodes will handle the rushing work in Weeks 1, 2 and 3. Jackson currently sits as the de facto starter for those games, but that could change. Rhodes has made it clear he intends to push Jackson for the starting spot. Either way, both men will have more significant roles in Lynch's absence. They'll also get a chance to push for more substantial roles after Lynch returns.
