The Facts:
Despite talking up the progress of the receivers who are participating in the Bengals off-season program, Palmer made it clear the Bengals need Chad Ochocinco. "He's a damn good receiver -- that's obvious, everybody knows that -- but the guys that are working here and busting their butt here deserve a shot," Palmer said on FOXSports Radio's Petros and Money Show. "When he shows up he'll show up and hopefully he's in great shape and he's ready to play."

As reported in a previous item, Ochocinco is indeed reported to be in great shape and ready to play. Palmer was critical of the receiver last week during an appearance on Sirius NFL Radio. Palmer told listeners: "Chad's pretty much gone. ..." Whie it's safe to say that Palmer's focus on players working with him now, Laveranues Coles, Jerome Simpson and Chris Henry, wasn't a direct knock at Ochocinco, the previous comments were just as clearly a message. Still, as long as Ochocinco shows up ready to play when it counts, we suspect things will be fine.
