A Splash Of Cold Water On Possible Brett Favre Return
(4/29 9:32 PT)

The Facts:
I'm not sure what to make of the latest twist in Favre's post-retirement career, and I don't know where the Vikings stand internally on his status. The biggest question to be answered is actually a physical one: Favre said in February that he needs surgery to repair a torn biceps in his right arm. Assuming that remains the case and assuming he hasn't had it yet, time would be running out for such a significant procedure if he really wants to be ready to participate in a training camp. Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
So wrote ESPN.com NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert, formerly a Vikings beat writer for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, in response to Favre's release from the Jets and the immediate speculation about the retired signal caller's future. And Siefert is absolutely right on point. He was also correct in calling the story "manufactured" news. That said, anybody who doesn't believe Favre is going to dominate the NFL conversation until some level of resolution is reached probably isn't familiar with sports talk radio. ... Whatever the case, we'll leave you with Siefert's response to reports there is NFL "chatter" about Favre wanting to play again: "Chatter schmatter."
