Bruce spoke with 49ers coach Mike Singletary this morning and told him what is on his mind. And what is on his mind is football. Bruce told Singletary that he plans to play for the 49ers this season, a team spokesman said.

Bruce led the 49ers in receiving in his first season with the 49ers. The 49ers wanted him back, and he is returning. Whether Bruce remains in the starting lineup remains to be seen as Josh Morgan and Brandon Jones hope to move up in the rotation. Morgan has high expectations. In fact, Press-Democrat staffer Matt Maiocco recently suggested that team officials expect him to emerge into a “top-flight” wideout at split end in 2009.
