The Detroit Lions signed tight end Will Heller, an unrestricted free agent, to a one-year deal on Monday.

The 6-6, 270-pound Heller played the previous three seasons in Seattle. His best season came in 2007, when he played in all 16 games and had a career-high 13 receptions for 82 yards and three touchdowns. The Lions also have Michael Gaines and Casey Fitzsimmons on the roster. They cut Dan Campbell and John Owens went to Seattle in free agency.
