Though the Bengals have made an offer to free-agent RB Derrick Ward, a league source tells ProFootballTalk.com that the Bengals' top priority at running back is Benson. Reported by Profootballtalk.com

According to PFT's Mike Florio, the Bengals prefer Benson because he's a couple of years younger than Ward. And Benson has shown that he can be a featured back; Ward was merely a complement to Brandon Jacobs with the Giants. Benson ran for a career-high 747 yards in only 12 games on a team that had a seriously diminished passing game, given the elbow injury to quarterback Carson Palmer.
