New HC Todd Haley gave Thigpen about as generous an endorsement as could be expected. Haley said the selection of Chan Gailey as OC could be interpreted as a good sign for Thigpen, who started the last 10 games in 2008.

“Anytime there is a familiarity or continuity, in some respects, I think it’s always good for the player,” Haley said Friday during a break at the NFL scouting combine. Haley did not have the answer on whether he will call the offensive plays or let Gailey keep those responsibilities. “Chan’s been a very good play-caller in the league," Haley said. "Those are good problems to have, and I’ll try not to trip over my feet whatever direction we try to go.”
