Following up on a previous item. ... Former Lions WR Mike Furrey said during a radio interview Sunday that Detroit's QBs have been informed that Culpepper will be the starter for the 2009 season. A team source, however, said Furrey's information is incorrect.

According to MLive.com's Tom Kowalski, Culpepper might remain in the mix, but the team is still exploring its options in signing a free agent veteran QB or drafting one in the first round (with the first or second pick). Most draft analysts have the Lions selecting Georgia quarterback Matt Stafford with the top overall draft choice. One of the positives for Culpepper is that he'll be playing in an offense designed by coordinator Scott Linehan, who was his coordinator for three years with the Vikings.
