Now that Brandon Jacobs has been designated as the Giants' franchise free agent, his return almost certainly means Ward is gone.

According to previous reporting report, Ward was planning to meet with Giants officials about his future this week. However, Daily News staffer Ralph Vacchiano reports that neither Ward nor his agent, Peter Schaffer, were planning to be in New York this week. Assuming Ward signs elsewhere, Ahmad Bradshaw has proven to be a capable contributor and the Giants are high on Danny Ware, who was inactive for most of the season.
