The Facts:
Hasselbeck enters his ninth season as the Seahawks' QB with a bulging disc in his back and his 34th birthday on tap in September. But Hasselbeck has been told he will not need surgery and contended all along that his back will not be an issue as he continues his career. "The body heels itself," he said. "I'm hopeful to be better by the end of (January)."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The injury forced Hasselbeck to miss nine games in 2006 -- and play ineffectively in the seven games he did start (10 interceptions, compared to five touchdown passes). His ability to regain previous form is a concern. Fortunately, we'll have a chance to check his progress a little earlier than most. The Seahawks will have an additional mini-camp in April (because they have
a new coach -- one firmly in Hasselbeck's corner). His status then will be worth checking on.
