The Cowboys are having serious internal discussions about releasing Owens very soon. Serious discussions. The $3.1-million roster bonus due Owens in March is also adding to the discussions.

That according to Mike Lombardi, who reiterated and expanded on this initial blog posting during an appearance on Showtime's "Inside the NFL." Lombardi is convinced that Owens is on the way out, in part because OC Jason Garrett has given owner Jerry Jones a "me or T.O." ultimatum. But DallasCowboys.com insider Mickey Spagnola, in response to Lombardi's report, advised readers that Owens' bonus isn't due until June 3, which means the Cowboys can go through free agency and the draft before deciding on Owens. Spagnola added: "If you don’t get that right, how accurate could the rest of the report be about this coming down to Garrett or Owens. ..." Stay tuned. We haven't heard the last of this one.
