The Facts:
Following up on a previous item. ... With Burress’ future -- and freedom -- in limbo pending his next court appearance on March 31, his future with the Giants is likely on hold until at least then. GM Jerry Reese said today that, while he expects to talk with Burress sometime “soon,” he’ll likely see what happens in the courts before deciding whether the receiver is welcomed back on the field.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
“The legal process can veto everything, so it really doesn’t make a lot of decisions prior to the legal process running its course,” Reese noted. ... As Daily News staffer Rich Cimini pointed out, the problem with that, of course, is that the free-agent signing period starts at the beginning of March. And Cimini added, Burress’ next court date may not provide a resolution since he’s only scheduled to enter a plea. There’s still the matter of a trial, or a plea bargain, and any sentence he may receive. Plus he’s still likely facing a suspension from the NFL. Bottom line? Sounds like Burress' return to New York (the Giants as opposed to a local penitentiary) isn't all that likely.
