LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates missed a second straight practice Thursday as San Diego continued to prepare for its home wild-card playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night.

According to the AP and the San Diego Union-Tribune, it sounds as if Tomlinson, who has a strained groin, is in better shape than Gates, who has a sprained ankle. The Chargers agree. "If we were playing today he probably wouldn't play," HC Norv Turner said about Gates. And L.T.? "Yeah, I think he would," the coach said. ... Turner went on to suggest final decisions on the status of both will be made Saturday; we would suggest the odds of both being on the field are very good. The question is their ability to perform. Stay tuned. We'll be looking for more.
