The Facts:
Shortly after the 49ers knocked off the Redskins in the season finale, the 49ers issued the following statement from GM Scot McCloughan. “Now that the season has concluded, we will begin to enter into contract negotiations with Coach Singletary for him to become Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers.”

The contract negotations are for a four-year deal, according to Singletary. Asked about the offense and coordinator Mike Martz, Singletary didn’t say that he plans to dismiss Martz, but he admitted that he’s not 100 percent sure about retaining him. Although he will discuss his staff with McCloughan, Singletary will have autonomy over his coaching staff. Asked if Shaun Hill will be the starter going into training camp, Singletary replied, “Don’t know that yet.”
