HC Herman Edwards said during his press conference Wednesday that Johnson will be deactivated again this week and won’t play against the New York Jets. Edwards also named QB Tyler Thigpen the starter this week, and announced that Brodie Croyle and Damon Huard have both been placed on the injured-reserve list.

Johnson, who sat out last week for violating team rules, is currently under investigation by police for allegedly assaulting a woman. “It’s my decision,” said Edwards. Edwards said Koby Smith and rookie Jamaal Charles would again share the rushing duties in Johnson’s absence. ... The Chiefs are also in the process of completing paperwork to sign free agent Quinn Gray, but Edwards indicated the team might not be finished making moves. “We’re not through looking at quarterbacks,” Edwards said.
