The Facts:
Payne has a torn ligament in his knee and is probably done for the season, though they didn't say which ligament. Mike Holmgren said it was serious.

Payne talked with reporters after the game and said when he caught the ball, just the toe of his shoe touched the turf when the guy's helmet hit just above his knee. He said he knew immediately that something bad had happened. ... The injury obviously hurts a team already hurting at wide receiver. Payne's injury leaves Courtney Taylor, Billy McMullen and Michael Bumpus as the only healthy receivers on the rosters. Deion Branch (knee) and Bobby Engram (shoulder) are said to be a couple weeks away from returning.
