The Facts:
The Patriots just released the following statement regarding Brady: "After extensive tests this morning, it was revealed that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's left knee, which was injured in the first quarter of yesterday's game, will require surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2008 season."

There you have it. ... At least we didn't have to endure much mystery and subterfuge. Matt Cassel moves into the starting lineup and the team could add a veteran free-agent to back him up. ... We'll have more details on the severity of Brady's injury when made available. HC Bill Belichick didn't add further to the release during his press conference, other than to suggest everybody on the team -- coaches included -- will have to improve.
