Well, that was quick. This afternoon we heard that the Steelers were trying to shop Davenport. A couple of hours later, a league source told PFT that the Steelers couldn't find any takers, so they're cutting the veteran running back.

As noted in the previous item, Davenport's departure -- whether by trade or release -- isn't a huge surprise. The veteran became expendable when the Steelers picked running back Rashard Mendenhall in the first round of the draft. While he apparently didn't generate much interest when it comes to a trade, it's safe to assume Davenport will be of greater interest as a free agent.
