The Panthers add a power back to compliment presumptive starter DeAngelo Williams. According to his NFL.com scouting report, the 5-11, 235-pound Stewart started only 25 games at Oregon but he ranks second in school history with 2,891 yards rushing. His 198 points scored is the sixth-best in school history and his 4,889 all-purpose yards rank third on the school's career list. ... The Panthers' relationship with the surgeon who performed recent turf-toe surgery on Stewart apparently convinced them the injury won't be an issue.The Panthers clearly believe it's worth taking a mini-risk on a big back who -- with the toe throbbing -- ran a 4.45 40 at the combine.
