The Facts:
Beason sustained a sesamoid fracture and torn ligament in his right foot during practice yesterday, which will keep him out for at least 12 weeks, the team announced. Beason said he is hopeful that he'll be able to return for the season-opener against Detroit, though it seems highly unlikely at the moment.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The team will likely turn to a platoon of Mark Herzlich, Devon Kennard and Jameel McClain to fill the role. McClain had been playing strongside linebacker but has experience inside. Kennard and Herzlich have both been taking reps at inside linebacker during OTAs. Spencer Paysinger, who factored in as the Will linebacker for base sets during camp, has also played in the middle. Beason injured his foot during an OTA workout yesterday. He was seen as a shoo-in to replace Justin Tuck as a defensive captain alongside fellow Miami teammate Antrel Rolle. Beason helped rejuvenate a lackluster defense last season after an October trade which cost the Giants just a seventh-round pick. "(He’s) very important," HC Tom Coughlin said. "Because of the nature of the man, his attitude, what he brings to the table, his leadership skills. He’s very important."
