Maurice Jones-Drew Will Work Out On His Own
(4/16 10:7 PT)

The Facts:
Mike Mularkey’s first voluntary minicamp will begin without the Jaguars’ star player. Jones-Drew will not report for the veteran orientation camp, which begins on Tuesday, instead working out in California, where he lives in the offseason. Reported by the Florida Times-Union

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Times-Union staffer Tania Ganguli reminded readers, Jones-Drew, who was the NFL’s leading rusher last season, has skipped voluntary parts of offseason programs in the past. He got married the day before the Jaguars began their strength and conditioning program on April 2 and thus didn’t report for it. A few teammates also missed the first day of the voluntary program so they could attend his wedding. Missing a voluntary workout or practice is not considered a holdout and teams are not allowed to punish players for missing them. Some players skip voluntary workouts to make statements about their contracts, but Jones-Drew’s contract does not expire for two more seasons.
