To recap: Over the course of the last few hours, we've gone from no more visits scheduled going forward to the Titans preparing for and expecting a visit to the Dolphins and Titans HCs now both scheduled to meet with Manning. In case you're not picking up on the trend here, most of the speculative reporting on this story turns out to be inaccurate. In defense of the reporters involved, things do change. That said, the rush to be first with the latest tidbit leads to plenty of backtracking. Today is a prime example. This morning's report that Manning would make no further visits after weekend trips to Denver and Arizona to meet with the Broncos and Cardinals came from ESPN's Adam Schefter. This latest report -- just a short time later, comes from Schefter's ESPN colleague Mortensen (perhaps in an effort to trump the NFL.com report on the Titans?). Meanwhile, a pair of tweets by Orlando Sun-Sentinel staffer David Hyde this morning (posted on Twitter within the span of just a few minutes) first claimed the Dolphins were out of the running then claimed they were not. A report by a local Denver television station last night reported the Broncos were 95 percent certain Manning would sign with them after team official received a call from the QB; a pair of reports moments later refuted Manning even called the team. ... We'll continue to follow up as further reporting comes out. And we'll continue to follow up those reports with the conflicting reports, denials and refutations that inevitably come in response until Manning has signed with somebody.
