If no deal is reached by Monday, the Saints will place the franchise tag on him -- a move that doesn't really seem to be in line with the objectives of either side. The Saints need the tag to keep All Pro guard Carl Nicks from leaving as a free agent. Brees seems to realize the benefits of keeping the team together for another championship run. The two sides have until the afternoon of March 5 to get a deal done and to avoid using the tag on Brees. ... Stay tuned.
